How to Sell Alcohol on the TalkShopLive Marketplace

Selling alcohol on TalkShopLive involves a streamlined process, ensuring legal compliance and a familiar experience for both sellers and shoppers. This new feature empowers US sellers to tap into the booming online alcohol market while maintaining a secure and legally compliant environment for everyone.

The following is an overview of how it works.

 

Seller Onboarding

To begin selling alcohol, US-based sellers will encounter a new step during account setup or by visiting their Channel Settings.

  • Request to Sell: You'll be asked if you plan to sell alcohol products. Selecting "Yes" initiates a verification process.
  • Verification: Your request will be marked as pending. Alcohol sales approval requests will be reviewed within one to two business days to verify your valid liquor license and carrier agreement.
  • Approval Notification: Once verified, you'll receive an email confirming your approval status. You can also track this in your Channel Settings under the new "Alcohol Sales" section.

 

Product Creation

Once your channel is approved for alcohol sales, you can start listing products.

  • Access Product Creation: Alcohol products are created just like any other TSL product. Navigate to "My Products" and select "Add a new Product."
  • Alcohol Category: You'll find an Alcohol category tree available for categorizing your alcohol products (e.g., Alcohol > Wine > White Wine > Chardonnay).
  • Age Restriction: All alcohol products you create will be automatically marked as Age Restricted.

 

Order Fulfillment

Fulfilling alcohol orders maintains TSL's core functionalities with added features for compliance and convenience.

  • Start Fulfillment: Order fulfillment is as simple as it has always been on TSL. Access your orders from your alcohol-approved account.
  • Order Clarity: Enjoy clearer display of all order information, direct links to fulfillment knowledge base articles, a new button for adding tracking information, and explicit alerts when accepting and fulfilling an order.
  • Payouts: Funds from alcohol sales are directed to your Stripe account.

Age-Gated Checkout

The checkout process for alcohol products is designed to be seamless yet strictly compliant with age and residency requirements.

  • Age & Residency Confirmation: At checkout, users are prompted to confirm they are 21 or older and a resident of the United States. They are also reminded that valid government-issued ID will be required upon delivery.
  • Conditional Cart Removal: If a user confirms "No" to the age or residency question, the alcohol product is immediately removed from their cart. If they confirm "Yes," they can continue with the purchase.
  • Checkout Reminders: Throughout the checkout process, a persistent notification reminds shoppers of the alcohol purchase requirements, ensuring full transparency.
