Overview
Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) is a widely used protocol for streaming audio, video, and data over the Internet. By leveraging third-party software like OBS Studio, Restream, and Wirecast, you can create professional live streams in TalkShopLive Studio and broadcast them to multiple social media destinations simultaneously. This guide will walk you through the steps to set up and use these tools for RTMP live streaming.
Prerequisites
- A computer with a stable internet connection
- We recommend an ethernet connection over a Wi-Fi connection where possible
- Note: Your upload speed has to be at least 10 Mbps (megabits per second) to have a decent livestream. Check out any internet speed tests and pay attention to the upload, not download, speeds.
- We support three third-party solutions:
- OBS
- Wirecast
- Restream
- These instructions assume you have completed your show setup
On TalkShopLive
- When starting your test or live show using TalkShopLive Streaming - Enhanced, you will need to have selected "Broadcast Software" for how you plan to go live. See screenshot below:
- Our system will generate your RTMP URL and Key. You will need to input this information to your broadcasting software
- Once you've put your RTMP URL and Key in your broadcasting software, you will need to start the stream in your software. You will receive confirmation on TalkShopLive that we are receiving your stream. Now you can start the show!
- Whilst your show is live, you will send an animated red light. When you are done, you can end the show.
- Note on ending the show: Ensure to end the show in TalkShopLive first, and then end the stream on your broadcasting software.
