Introduction
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for Seller-Streamers to run a test show and go live using the RTMP input feature in TalkShopLive Streaming 2.0. This feature is built to support Seller-Streamers that want to use a broadcast software solution such as OBS, Streamlabs, Restream or other solution to run their live stream.
It also includes troubleshooting tips for common issues.
Running a Test Show
After you have completed the initial setup of your live show, we recommend running a test show to get familiar with our Streaming 2.0 platform. This familiarity will increase the probability of your success when you have your live show.
Step-by-Step Instructions via Google Chrome Browser
- Log into TalkShopLive:
- Open Google Chrome and log into your TalkShopLive account.
- Click the red "Go Live" button on the top-right corner of the navigation bar.
- Select Your Scheduled Show:
- Click the "Manage" button on your scheduled show.
- Ensure "TalkShopLive Streaming" is selected under 'Schedule'.
- Run a Test Show:
- In the right-hand column, choose "Run a Test Show" and select "TalkShopLive Streaming".
- Your video and audio will default to your internal camera and microphone.
- Join the Test Show:
- Once you see yourself in the preview, click the red "Join Show" button. The preview should read "Private Test Show".
- Next to the "Start" button, click the "Invite Show Participants" icon (silhouette of a person with a plus mark).
- Generate RTMP URL and Key:
- Choose "Custom RTMP".
- Click "Generate RTMP URL and Key".
- Copy and paste the "Connection URL" and "Stream Key" into your broadcast software.
- Configure Broadcast Software:
- Open your broadcast software (e.g., OBS, Wirecast, Restream).
- Find the RTMP input settings and paste the "Connection URL" and "Stream Key".
- Click "Start Streaming" in the broadcast software.
- Activate the Stream:
- Return to TalkShopLive.
- Choose "Yes" when asked if you want to make this custom RTMP your primary broadcast.
- Check your broadcast view and click the red "Start" button to go live.
- End the Test Show:
- To end the show, click "End Show" on TalkShopLive before stopping the stream in your broadcast software.
- Choose "End Show and Stay" for a cleaner ending.
Going Live
Start setup at least 15 minutes in advance.
- Log into TalkShopLive:
- Use Google Chrome to log into your TalkShopLive account.
- Click the red "Go Live" button on the top-right corner of the navigation bar.
- Join Your Scheduled Show:
- Click the red "Join Show" button on your scheduled show.
- Your video and audio will default to your internal camera and microphone.
- Click "Join Show" again once you see yourself in the preview.
- Invite Show Participants:
- Next to the "Start" button, click the "Invite Show Participants" icon.
- Choose "Custom RTMP".
- Generate the RTMP URL and key, then copy and paste them into your broadcast software.
- Start Streaming:
- Open your broadcast software and paste the RTMP URL and key.
- Click "Start Streaming".
- Activate the Stream on TalkShopLive:
- Return to TalkShopLive and confirm the custom RTMP as your primary broadcast.
- Check your broadcast view and click the red "Start" button to go live.
- End the Live Show:
- End the show on TalkShopLive before stopping the stream in your broadcast software.
- Choose "End Show and Stay" for a cleaner ending.
Troubleshooting
If TalkShopLive Streaming runs into issues and your stream is disconnected:
- Refresh and rejoin the show within 5 minutes.
If the Broadcast Software or Encoder Fails:
- Leave Streaming 2.0 (refresh or click the back button).
- Restart the stream in your broadcast software using the same server URL and stream key.
- Rejoin Streaming 2.0 and add the RTMP source back into the virtual room within 5 minutes.
Additional Tips:
- When ending the show on TalkShopLive, choose "End Show and Stay" for a cleaner finish.
- If issues persist, consider ending and resetting the show and Facebook.
