Overview
A brief overview of the full process of going live and what happens thereafter.
We recommend doing a test show to familiarize yourself with the user interface of TSL Studio web. During the test show, we recommend you skip going live on Facebook and Instagram. That said, you will see the interface that will let you go live.
Now, for the true live show that will have Instagram shoppable simulcasting enabled, see the flows outlined below.
Pre-Live Stream Setup
- Show Setup/Manage Page:
- Link Instagram account through Facebook.
- Select device flow (Unified or Two-Device).
- Multiple professional Instagram profiles can be associated with one TSL channel.
- Preparing to Go Live:
- Input RTMP URL and latest Key for Unified Device Flow.
- For Two-Device Flow, you will receive a prompt to go live on Instagram via mobile.
- Note: In the two-device flow, we recommend you use your desktop 🖥️
- to go live in TalkShopLive (and Facebook if you have added a Facebook page added for simulcasting). You will use your mobile device 📱to go live on Instagram via the Instagram mobile app.
- For Unified Device Flow, where you are using your desktop 🖥️ to go live on TalkShopLive, Facebook, and Instagram:
- Start your live show in TalkShopLive's studio web view.
- Confirm that on Instagram Live Producer preview you can see your livestream feed. Now start your Instagram live.
During the Live Stream
TSL Studio web view:
- Your show is live!
- Go to the destinations shelf on TSL studio web.
- Select live media event to check that the shoppable feature is working. This is what it the destinations shelf will have inside it if you have a new IG live media event to search for. This can happen if you quit an IG live and restart. If that's the case, choose the latest one! This ensures that when your audience comments "SHOP," they will get the DM to shop the products in TalkShopLive.

- Note: Ensure you always have an IG live media event selected. This is important! It allows our systems to programmatically listen for “SHOP” comments in the Instagram live chat.
Actions in Instagram’s Platform Whilst Live
- Direct messages to users who comment “SHOP” in the live chat.
- Messages appear in the chat list for followers or as message requests for non-followers.
Note: Once the live show ends on Instagram, you can discard or archive it. We recommend you generate a reel from your live show that you can then make shoppable via TalkShopLive. This will elongate your shoppability window for your Instagram audience.
Post-Live Stream
Video On-Demand (VOD): Once your livestream ends, it will automatically be turned into a VOD that lives on in TalkShopLive.
Please go to show manage, and you will see an updated show card inviting you to connect a reel posted after the live show to your TalkShopLive show. This will ensure that your viewers can shop the products you sold during your live show.
Note that the 7-day shoppability windows start counting down from the airing of your live show, not from when you connect your Instagram Reel.
